Salisbury & South Wilts District Scouts

8th Salisbury (Methodist) Scout Group

Welcome to 8th Salisbury

Here at the 8th we have a long tradition of Scouting and the Group can be traced almost back to the beginning, nearly 100 years ago.

We have always been linked to the Methodist Church and we are very proud of that link. We are grateful for the support that Salisbury Methodist Church have given to the Group over the years.

We are very active Group. We try and  put the 'Out' in 'Scouting' with the Cub Pack doing a lot of Camping and the Scout Troop specializing in expeditions and hill walking.

Richard Marsh is the Beaver leader, We currently have 16 Beavers. The Beavers is a mixed colony. We meet every Wednesday 6PM - 7PM (waiting list in operation to join us please email GSL prior to 6th birthday).

Bev Turner is the Cub Scout Leader. The cubs section is a mixed pack . We meet every Wednesday 6.30 - 8.00PM. summer PGL activity weekend and pack weekend camp are some of the highlights of a very busy program.

Richard Pearce and Brian Waddingham are the Scout leaders. We also meet every Wednesday 7.30 - 9.15 PM. We are a mixed troop.. In the last 12 months our Scouts have had the opportunity to climb or walk along Scarfell Pike, South Downs Way, Dartmoor, Sharp Edge @ Skiddaw.  We have also offered 15 nights of camping under canvas.

All three sections support and attend events organised by the local Scout District and Wiltshire County Scouts.

We are supported by an awesome parents executive, every parent is "encouraged" to join the executive for a short time whilst their child travels from Beavers through to Cubs and onto Scouts. (Some of our Beavers from the class of 2002 - 2006 have continued on to Explorers and come back to join us as young leaders) .

Meeting Church = Salisbury Methodist Church, St Edmunds Church Street, Salisbury (park in Salt Lane Car Park). Please introduce yourself to David Miles, our assistant GSL.
